({{Okay, I decided to be cool and make one of the character's past things. B-) I hope you guys don't mind 1st person point of view! I recently discovered I'm a bit better at it.}}
Not many people believe me when I tell them I'm from the small town of Morinoku, located in the Northern Earth Kingdom. It's isolated in the center of a thick forest, with no one around for miles. My family, which consisted of me, my father, and older 20-year-old brother Tsuta, lived in what I called our "leafy house," because the trees formed two crossing branches that we had used to place our house made from clay, sticks, and leaves. It was actually pretty strong, and it held it's stature well into the years. My mother died when I was born. People tell me I lok so much like her. Especially my eyes. We both had the same irregular, crystal blue eyes. It puzzled many, and awed others. I remember the day that I was sent off to Ba Sing Se. It was absolutely unforgettable. I was six, not knowing much about the world around me.€
"Father?" I asked the tall, rahter old man whom was packing up his things into a large bag. We had never had the money to travel or go on vacation, so this made me wonder. "Where are you going?"
He didn't answer me, but I could sense how uncomfortable he felt around me. Still, I was curious at that age.
"Daddy?" I tugged at his arm and he gently pulled it away from me. Looking down at me with his large, emerald eyes, they filled with sadness as they met my gaze.
"Rika-chan." I now fully heard the distress in my father's voice as he spoke. It was something..I had never heard before. "Your brother and I are...going on vacation. Obayashi-san is going to send you to someone who will watch after you. Please...be good."
He picked me up and tightly hugged my small body, placing me down after kissing my cheek. I quizzically tilted my head to the side, but nodded all the same.
"Good girl." He smiled, picking me up once more.
A few days later, Father and Tsuta left for the Earth Kingdom Army. Of course, I didn't know this at the time, but I eventually managed to put the pieces together. He hadn't done this of his own free will, according to the general whom sent me the letter announcing his and Tsuta's death. But this happens later. Obayashi-san had been friends with my father ever since I was born, and had always treated me with kindness. I absoltely loved staying with him. He didn't have a family, but he was just as fun, and he never forgot to take me out for reika* every time I visited.
THe third day I was with him, he woke me up very early in the morning. I had always been a late sleeper, which was considerd a bit habit. It didn't bother me much though.
"Rika-chan, we're going somewhere...special today. You need to get dressed, okay?" He whispered to me gently. I sleepily nodded, having no idea about what was going to happen next.
( (Okay, FYI, geisha attain new names when they become...well, geisha. Rika is Katsumiyo-chan's original name. And I'm done for now because I'm tired. I'll try to put up more tomorrow!) )
